It’s a recreation - no surprises there. But the 250 GTO is one of the few cars that I’d prefer owning a recreation to the real thing.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
If I get to buy, drive or ride one of these through some miracle, I will have to budget in a spare pair of pants.
If any of you Oppos buys this, you gotta let me have a go!

Judging by the price, my Hot Wheels 250 GTO might be the closest I’ll get.

If you still have both kidneys, maybe this recreation is within the realm of possibility!

ther is (maybe was) a guy in my town with one like that with a sawzall opening in the hood and what sounded like an old V8 that had the carb sticking out the sawzall hole.

Much like the original cars built at Scaglietti’s workshop, it was hand-formed over wooden bucks.
So... hand-built V12 Ferrari... yup, should be downright affordable! But yeah, compared to a “real” 250 GTO, I guess.

Forza 7 on Xbox! No need to worry about denting some fenders at Monza.

I saw a 250 GTO in person many many years ago. It was amazballs. Not over a million amazeballs tho. I still can’t wrap my head around the astronomical prices some of these rare cars are getting. This car is like taking a 280z 2+2 and shortening it down to a standard 280Z. Kinda weird but if it’s what you like than good on them.

wow, that’s pretty legit for a fake. There’s a black one around my town that’s clearly a corvette, which is what I expected this to be.

I saw TWO in one day in Monterey 2 years ago.
It was one of the best days of my life.

As interesting as a 250 GTO is (because old Ferrari and history and all that), I find the 250 GT
Berlinetta
passo corto
to have a certain arresting beauty a GTO can’t possibly match.

Just meant it’s n ot a real GTO. Plenty of other original cars you could buy for $100,000.
Or maybe $120,000

Very true.
But the engine is the same, the chassis and body are very similar. It’s the closest you can get to a 250 GTO.
$ 100k can even buy you a house or feed like 10k people for a week. But that’s not the point.

Wouldn’t be on top of my Powerball Garage List, but you do make a very valid point.
Sub $100k I go for this:
Sub $175 k $ 300k I go for this, since it’s vintage but I wouldn’t hesitate to race it around at a track day.
(the cheapest Dino’s are $300k now!?!?!??! F— me......now I have to be afraid of wrecking a Dino???? )

250's trade on reputation, pedigree, and bragging rights for rich people. People saying I want it and I’ll pay for it to prove how much money I have keep the prices high.

Doesn’t end for 5 days and already $110k. I bet all those carburetors are fun to tune. And re-tune. Over and over...

I don’t understand why people give perfectly rational arguments against the purchase of something so irrationally desirable.
It’s not gonna be reliable. It’s not gonna be cheap. It’s not gonna beat any other $100k+ car built in the last 15 years.
T his car is so gorgeous (to me) , I would look past all that if I had the means.
And it is supposed to be like your 4th car.

This modernized replica was for sale on ebay a while back. I would have bought if I had $45k to spend:

Please: if you have the dough, and you like that car, then I’d be like, “Will you take me for a ride in it?” I think that as ridiculous wastes of money on cars go, that would be a fine one, but I’d make sure I could get the carburetors adjusted first, because I expect that’s gone be a thang with that ride.
Let’s watch and see what this car goes for; do you want to make a guess? $200k? $300k? I’d think you were way dumber spending the same money on anything that was built in the past 15 years.
So I’m with you. And: it ain’t a Ferrari, so +1.

I agree with your sentiment.
Even though I’m not in the market, I hope the gavel stops at $200k tops.
Any thing more would be disheartening.
